One of my favorite TV shows right now is the Netflix Original series The Crown, it focuses on the rise and reign of Queen Elizabeth and the challenges she faced while doing so. My favorite line so far is in the first season. Queen Elizabeth’s grandmother writes her a letter and essentially tells her, “There is going to come a time in your life when you are going to have to choose the crown or yourself, always choose the crown.”
Always choose the crown.
What a powerful statement. In a world where ‘self’ is put on such a pedestal, choosing the crown takes discipline and a will do what is right!
As Kingdom citizens, we are apart of a royal family so we should always act as such. In life, there are things that often attempt to bring us down and cause us to live from our lower self, to relinquish our Kingdom consciousness and operate out of our flesh instead. Everyone chooses who they want to become based on the decisions they make.
As we surrender to a wrong appetite, to any human weakness; as we fall prostrate in hopeless subjection to any condition, to any environment, to any failure, we become slaves. But as we day by day crush out human weakness, master opposing elements within us, and day by day re-create a new self from the sin and folly of our past,—then we become Kings.
Although sometimes difficult, we must exhibit resolve and maintain the revelation of our identity in King Jesus and walk in royalty and whenever faced with the opportunity to compromise or walk in our royalty, we must always choose the crown.
You’ll be a stunning crown in the palm of God’s hand, a jeweled gold cup held high in the hand of your God. Isaiah 62:3 (MSG)
